It's all well and good that they're making a movie, but...
Is it REALLY that hard for Mark Millar and John Romita Jr. to put out an issue more often than every three or four months? I mostly blame Millar, because he generally can't be bothered to get a book out on time, no matter how hot it is. Somewhere, Jack Kirby's just shaking his head.
Thankfully, Hollywood seems to be a lot more concerned with deadlines than Marvel -- otherwise the Kick-Ass movie wouldn't be coming out until around 2016.
But the point is, if they're building hype for the movie, wouldn't it behoove Marvel to make sure the book's coming out on time and generating a strong, steady buzz?
I mean, come on -- the books's a very fun read, and writing comics ain't rocket science.
Of course, I neither work in the comic or movie industry, so I'm probably just a duck-billed retard that wishes I could get paid big bucks to jack around and completely blow every deadline I ever get.

I agree 100%. The movie is AHEAD of the book. Reading about the film actually spoiled something that had not even happened for me in the book yet. Comic writers have NO excuse for not meeting deadlines. I say this as a PhD student that will be writing 50 pages in the next few days.

Mark Millar doesn't give half a shit about comics now that he has Hollywood to leech off of. So he goes where the paycheck is bigger.
When they're sick of him, Joe Quesada will probably welcome him back with open arms, slap a "From the creator of the blockbuster movie KICK-ASS" banner over the top of any hackneyed comic he makes for Marvel, and charge six bucks a pop for it.
And it'll sell.
I could cry.
